The 2019 Cover Kid Contest is closed to entries. Please visit February 1 for a link to vote for our 10 semi-finalists through February 22.

What is the Cover Kid Contest?
We open up the opportunity to be on our cover to ALL kids in our community who are interested. We’re seeking kids who enjoy being in front of the camera, take direction well, and would be comfortable sharing their photo with thousands of our readers.

We encourage everyone interested to enter! We will choose a representative cross section of kids from our region based on each issue’s needs and themes.

How do we enter?
You can enter online: or you can mail your entry to our address below.

Photos of smiling faces are better than those taken at a distance, but full-body shots are fine as long as the face shows clearly. They do not need to be headshots, nor professionally taken. For electronic submissions, files must be no larger than 2MB in size.

Mailed entries must be at least 4×6 but not larger than 5×7. Photos must be only of the child you are entering; photos with more than one child will be automatically disqualified. Send us a recent photo, 4×6” or 5×7”, and entry fee for each child by standard mail no later than FRI., JANUARY 25, 2019 to the following address:

Coulee Parenting Connection
P.O. Box 2576
La Crosse, WI 54602

How much are entry fees?
Entry fee is $5. Entry fees are used to cover the costs associated with the contest, including staff time, postage, and other associated fees. Proceeds are donated to a program or charity serving children and families.

What does it mean to be a semi-finalist?
We will choose a pool of 25 semi-finalists from the total entries. These 25 semi-finalists will advance to online voting from Fri., Feb. 1 – Fri., Feb. 22. Five semi-finalists will become finalists by popular vote. Five semi-finalists will be chosen by CPC staff based on 2018 editorial needs. Two finalist models will be assigned to each cover throughout the year. One or both models will appear on a cover of the magazine in 2019. However, we may use other semi-finalists for other needs throughout the year.

All semi-finalists will be recognized in an upcoming 2019 edition of CPC and online at

How do you choose winners?
Our region is blessed with an abundance of adorable children. With hundreds of entries each year, the competition is stiff and choosing winners is a difficult and painstaking process.

Many factors go into choosing winners. We avoid choosing semi-finalists from the same family or kids previously featured on our covers in recent years in order to feature as many families in our community as possible. We strive to choose a good cross-section based on gender, ethnicity, and age.

Thank you very much for entering, and good luck!
